San Diego Wedding Photography by Mark Hopkins

My approach to wedding photography is that of a storyteller and photographic artist. I have studied the nuances of photography for many years as well as the work of many of the great fashion and photojournalistic photographers of our time. I photograph from the heart and soul. My photography in essence, is all about creating lightly directed portraits of the bride and groom and capturing the emotion and real moments from your wedding day. Those are typically the images that my clients love and cherish the most.

I have personally photographed over 300 weddings in the past 23 years. Most of those weddings have been San Diego weddings, but I have also photographed weddings on the Central Coast–Paso Robles and Santa Barbara wine country, and as far away as Greece and Spain. I love the art of photography and photographing weddings. In my portfolio I’ve included roughly 20-30 images of each wedding and from a few different weddings to give you a better idea of my style of wedding photography–Enjoy.

Above: Mike and Chloe’s wedding took place in Vista at the historic Rancho Guajome Adobe County Park. A beautiful location for a wedding and very affordable. Chloe “Getting Ready” photos were taken at her parent’s home in the foothills of Vista. You can see their engagement/maternity photos in the engagement session.

Francesca and Steve’s wedding took place at the “Wedding Bowl” in La Jolla, which is very popular location for wedding ceremonies. Although both of them love posed pictures, what they really liked about my wedding photography is my timing and style of capturing weddings in a photojournalistic style.

Dana and Bryan had a magnificent church wedding. Their beautiful ceremony was held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Little Italy. The reception followed at the Estancia Resort in La Jolla. Wayne Foster and his orchestra kept their guests entertained throughout the night. This is a great example of higher budget wedding.

Christy and James were married at the Immaculata Catholic Church on the campus of University of San Diego. They had a trolley bus shuttle the wedding party from the Westgate Hotel to the church, and then back for the reception. The Westgate is an absolute beauty as you will see in the photos.
